An American classic, this stirring “choreopoem” weaves together 20 separate poems with music, movement and narratives to tell the stories of love, empowerment, and struggle and loss in a complex representation of sisterhood. The cast consists of seven nameless African-American women only identified by the colors they are assigned. Shange wrote for colored girls... in a way that mimicked how real women spoke so she could draw her readers' focus to the experience of reading and listening. The show was nominated for a Tony Award in 1976.
4th Wall’s “Off The Wall” production will not be fully produced with sets and costumes, and the performers will/can carry scripts. The characters will be fully drawn, and the storytelling will be the focus of the production. There will be some staging.
(Mature subject matter; please use discretion when considering bringing children under 16.) The show will be followed by a brief discussion for those who are interested.

**PLEASE NOTE! **Pre-sales and reservations for the Thursday night, February 16th, performance of "for colored girls..." are CLOSED.** There will be a limited number of walk-up tickets available for that night on a wait list basis; we will release tickets at 7:15 pm, and names on the wait list will be taken on a first-come-first-served basis starting at 6:30 pm (for the 7:30 curtain).
